During the weekend of the 23rd-25th, Stoke Newington’s vibrant and varied entertainment scene will take centre stage as the festival brings together the community and local businesses for a musical extravaganza stretching from Stamford Hill, Church Street and down the High Street.
The festival is raising money for the charity Brook that provide essential sexual health and well being services to young people across the United Kingdom, and is especially active in Hackney where they run the Come Correct scheme, which distributes free condoms to young people across the borough.
Donations can also be made at any time by texting ‘SNMF15 £5’ to 70070, which will donate £5 to Brook (to give more simply change the number after the pound sign.)
The stellar line-up features some of the most exciting bands playing across the UK and internationally at the moment from traditional music to hip-hop DJ sets, raucous guitar bands to harmonising trios, street-performing superstars to reggae selectors, it’ll all be a short walk away in one action-packed weekend.
One special feature of the SNMF is the inclusion of the under-18s Young People’s Venue, located in St. Paul’s Church on Stoke Newington High Street. This setting will be produced by and for under-18s, showcasing not just young musical talent but also young sound engineers. Along with the involvement of the charity Brook, this aspect of the festival means that from the start SNMF will be about investing in Hackney’s young people and ensuring a musical legacy that stretches far into the future.
So join in this October 23-25th and be part of something truly special as Stoke Newington comes alive with the sound of music and the spirit of community!
